HEXPOL is convinced that being ambitious in sustainable development reinforce its relationship with customers. Many customers demands a Code of Conduct and certified environmental management systems. Other requirement concern the phasing out of hazardous chemical substances and sustainability issues being implemented in the supply chain.
Value generated
With cutting-edge expertise in polymer materials and solid knowledge of applications, technical support and constant development, we strengthen our customers' competitiveness in their markets. The Group's sustainability efforts are assessed regularly by customers. Audits and evaluations of the Group companies provided positive assessments of their performance.
Employees
It is important that group retain and develop employees, and also attract new ones.
For employees health, safety, financial compensation, personal development, social conditions and good business ethics are important.
Value generated
During 2023, HEXPOL had 2,913 MSEK (2,443) in personnel costs. The accident rate during the year was, 12.1 (11.9). The number of training hours was 87,600 (115,000). About 3,923 (3,500) employees participated in development interviews. Surveys regarding employee satisfaction at the workplace gave good results.
Suppliers
HEXPOL strives for open and long-term relationships with its suppliers. The objective is to guarantee suitable quality, financial stability and active sustainability work for both parties.
Value generated
A new version of the guidelines on sustainable development for suppliers (Supplier Sustainability Guideline) was presented in 2020. In 2023, 1,700 (682) suppliers were evaluated. We plan to update the Supplier Sustainability Guideline in 2024 and strengthen the collection of sustainability information.
Shareholders
For our shareholders, growth and dividends are central in generating value. Integrating sustainability issues into the business strategy reduces risks and generates business opportunities, for example through the development of environmentally-adapted products and through resourceefficient production and investments in environmentally adapted technologies.
Value generated
The dividend to shareholders amounted to 1,240 MSEK (2,067) and, over the past five years, HEXPOL's Class B shares had an total return of about 23 percent per year. During the year, dialogues were conducted with investors and the Group was evaluated by several independent institutions.
Society
Social commitment is an important aspect and is expected by local communities in which the Group operates. As a global company, the Group is expected to take measures contributing to national and global goals for sustainable development.
Value generated
HEXPOL is affiliated to the UN Global Compact and work continued on the UN's global goals for sustainable development. At the local level, the Group collaborated with schools and universities and contributed to healthcare, sports and culture. HEXPOL's tax expense for 2022 amounted to 822 MSEK (761).

Compliance with legal requirements is essential for HEXPOL.
